Boston Red Sox Man Cave - Inside the Green Monster
You would think that the closer the fan is to his team, the greater the man cave…right?
Like us when we wrote the above thesis, you would be dead wrong. In fact, some of the best man caves we have seen have been from fans out of the state of their beloved team. Or in this case, out of the country!
A Red Sox fan since he was 15, Greg was not able to watch as many games as he would have liked to at Fenway. Solution: build a mini-Fenway in your own home and call it your domain! If you need some great man cave ideas, look no further. Greg has thought of it all: brick paneling, a scoreboard, a replica diamond and outfield, and even foul poles. He doesn’t leave any detail out!

Part 2: The Build Process
Fenway was not build in one day, and neither was Greg’s man cave. If you think it’s easy to forge your domain, it’s not. The good news is it’s definitely doable. Greg helped us understand that every man who wants to take on the challenge of building a cave needs to begin with a vision. Once you have that vision, it’s only a matter of turning your man cave ideas into a reality. He visualized something really, incredibly awesome and pushed through each hurdle with determination. Just check out what he started with compared to the photos above!

Part 3: Interview with the Creator
1) You obviously were inspired by something mighty to begin forging your Red Sox man cave? What was the moment when the lightbulb went off and you just knew that you had to begin this project?
I've loved the Red Sox since I was about 15 and like every sports fan I knew, I wanted a place to sit, relax and watch games in a space that represents my team. I knew I wanted to do something unique, wanted people to come downstairs and have that "WOW" factor. Wasn't sure what to do but when my girlfriend and I went to a Sox game in 2012 they were celebrating 100 years of Fenway.
2) We assume you have watched many a game at Fenway Park, by the looks of the details that mimic the colors, signs, and styles of Fenway. Did you do your research on all of this at the park or did you use other resources?
I've been to about a half a dozen games, Since I live in Ontario, Canada, I can’t always go and catch a Sox game. I got some ideas from Fenway, but did a lot of time Googling other Red Sox rooms. In the end I kind of did my own thing, the brick wall is just 4x8 paneling that I got from Lowes, but I did paint the grout lines to make it stand out more and look more realistic.
3) Many sports man caves we see simply have memorabilia all over the place. Why did you decide to take it a step further and make your cave look like you were actually at the game?
The history of the park has always intrigued me: the brick, the steel beams and of course the Green Monster! When my girlfriend and I got pictures taken in front of the brick wall "Americas Most Beloved Ball Park" inside Fenway, I knew I had to have more than just memorabilia. I had to recreate a mini Fenway Park! When I first told my girlfriend she wasn't really into painting green walls and turf. She said I was crazy, but you have a vision so you go with it…and she loves it now.
4) What is your favorite Red Sox memory?
My favorite memory would have to be the ‘04 ALCS against the Yankees, being down 3 games and getting killed in the 3rd game was so disappointing. But winning the next 4 games was so amazing, then sweeping the Cards to win the World Series to break the "Curse of the Bambino" and an 86 year drought! Awesome.
5) Any future plans for adding to your man cave? It's got so much already, we can't think of anything that could make it better!
I will be adding the retirement numbers and maybe a pool table or a baseball pinball machine. Plus like every guy…a bigger TV! I might need a bigger room to expand, but don't tell my girlfriend!
