Custom DIY Hockey Man Cave - Toronto Maple Leafs Style

Custom DIY Hockey Man Cave - Toronto Maple Leafs Style

How did one fan forget that he was not actually at the Air Canada Centre watching the Maple Leafs game?

We think it’s ridiculous too, but when you will change your perspective once you see the photos of one of the most awesome man caves in the history of hockey. Once you add in life-size photos of screaming fans, boards with the same sponsors you see at the rink, and even a real flashing red goal horn (seriously check it out below), the confusion becomes very real.

We also had a chance to interview the crazed Maple Leafs fan, @touchincotton, about his one-of-a-kind Leafs man cave. Not only is this an impressive man cave, but is just as amazing in craftsmanship, even if you choose to forget the endless amount of Toronto blue and white adorning the entire room.

Finally, we were ecstatic to see some of the custom Toronto Maple Leafs man cave gear we sell at Man Cave Authority in its natural domain…inside the cave!

Wait, are there real fans in his man cave? Sure feels that way, what an awesome man cave idea.

There’s no better place to watch each game and spend the intermissions than in Steve’s man cave! You’ll never forget who you’re rooting for.

Seriously, is that a goal horn? This is just getting ridiculous. I wonder if it’s synced up with the one in the Air Canada Centre…I wouldn’t be surprised!

Any diehard hockey man cave needs boards to check anyone into who spills a beer. Two minute minor penalty for sure!

Even if your top line isn’t on the ice (or in front of the TV), you need a bench for the rest of your team (or friends!).

Part 2: The Build Process

This Leafs man cave was not built overnight. Steve mentions in the interview below, that the build process took 2 full years to complete. But the 2 years was not spent endlessly toiling away. Enjoying the transformation process and seeing ideas come to reality can be extremely fulfilling. Especially when you are the creator of your domain and then you get to appreciate the end result for years to come with your friends and family!

If you took a look at this out of context, you might say “There’s no way this is going to be the most epic Maple Leafs man cave I have ever seen”. But then again, you don’t know what Steve is capable of!

We can’t believe this is going to be the “iced” bar. But can’t you see how each part is perfectly planned?

Nice execution! We love the “ice” accents on the bar to make it even more of the ultimate hockey man cave.

Not much of a bathroom so far, but you know it’s going to have a urinal, and nothing says “man cave” like that!

Now that’s what I call a man’s bathroom. If only every bathroom was like this (and of course had a urinal for us guys!)

Part 3: Interview with the Creator

1) What first inspired you to build a man cave? And even more so, what inspired you to put the level of detail and craftsmanship into the project?

My Man Cave took me around two years to create. The blank slate of my basement and my almost 47 years of passion for my Leafs inspired me to create my ultimate Toronto Maple Leafs Man Cave. Inspiration comes with the first step of just telling and motiving yourself to put up the first piece of drywall and that first coat of paint. The second step was to have a plan and my plan was in my head from the start.

2) Your Maple Leafs man cave has some elements that make it look like a real ice rink (boards, photos of fans, and even the red siren light!). At what point during your build process did you decide you wants to make your cave feel like you are actually at the game?

My original plan was for my man cave to look like the inside of a hockey rink and for my bar top to look like the ice. The rest just took off from there.

3) Did you have help building some of the more custom aspects of your cave like the bar and lighting?

I would say to others: don't be afraid to spend a little extra on more complex custom work. As for me, I had custom work done for my Bar Top and my corner banquette seating. I used an electrician and plumbing professionals for that kind of work. I am far from being a construction pro, but doing it yourself and using your creative ideas along with a little professional help will inspire you to build your own ultimate Man Cave.

4) What tips would you give to fellow sports fans who may be intimidated by the work that goes into building such an awesome and detail-oriented man cave?

I would like to encourage other men wanting to create their own Man Caves to start with their own ideas but also take advice from others. Look outside your own box of ideas and imagination to create your own genuine room. I would say to other men when spending on material is to first look through your local area for used building materials as I did for my room. Finding those materials will save you a lot of money.

5) Do you have plans to continue adding on to your Maple Leafs man cave? We can't possibly think of anything that can make it better!

As for more additions to my Man Cave, well…the time now is for me to enjoy it with my family and my friends.
